Abaloparatide
Hormonal and Signaling
ABOUT
Abaloparatide is a synthetic analogue of parathyroid-hormone-related protein used in specific osteoporosis indications. Its regulated clinical evidence does not make it a general-purpose tissue-repair or performance compound.

IDENTITY
HALF-LIFE
HOW IT IS THOUGHT TO WORK
Abaloparatide activates the PTH1 receptor with a receptor-conformation profile that differs from teriparatide. Its labelled intermittent use is intended to support bone formation in selected osteoporosis populations.
PHARMACOKINETICS
The label reports a mean half-life of about one hour after subcutaneous administration. Metabolism is consistent with non-specific proteolytic degradation, with peptide fragments primarily eliminated by renal excretion.
REVIEW
PUBLISHED PAIR RECORDS
with Teriparatide
Parathyroid-hormone analogue exposure overlapTeriparatide is a PTH(1-34) analogue and abaloparatide is a PTHrP(1-34) analogue. Abaloparatide labelling specifically states that cumulative use with parathyroid-hormone analogues such as teriparatide beyond two years is not recommended. This label-based finding is about cumulative class exposure; it does not establish a safe way to use the products together.
Reviewed 8 Oct 2026HUMAN EVIDENCE
U.S. product labelling supports defined osteoporosis indications in people at high fracture risk. Evidence from that setting cannot establish benefit for healthy users, fracture healing outside the label, or body-composition goals.
REPORTED EFFECTS
The label warns about hypercalcaemia, orthostatic hypotension, hypercalciuria and urolithiasis, and recommends avoiding use in people with increased baseline osteosarcoma risk. Eligibility and duration need current-label and clinician review.
RESEARCH LIMITATIONS
This is a source-backed medicine and safety summary, not a recommendation or a protocol. Product labels, approvals, contraindications, interactions and availability differ by jurisdiction; check the current official product information and consult a qualified clinician.
