Testosterone cypionate
Androgens and Anabolics
ABOUT
Testosterone cypionate is an injectable depot ester of testosterone supplied as an oil solution. U.S. labelling describes replacement therapy for specific congenital or acquired testosterone-deficiency conditions; it does not establish safety or effectiveness for age-related hypogonadism alone.

WHAT THIS MEANS
Established. Review the research and limitations before relying on this record.
IDENTITY
HALF-LIFE
HOW IT IS THOUGHT TO WORK
After ester hydrolysis, testosterone acts through androgen receptors. In androgen-responsive tissues, testosterone can also be converted to dihydrotestosterone or estradiol; these pathways help explain why effects and risks are not limited to skeletal muscle.
PHARMACOKINETICS
The cypionate ester is dissolved in oil for intramuscular depot administration. Release from the depot and hydrolysis to testosterone depend on the labelled formulation, route, injection site and individual factors; a number quoted for another ester or product should not be transferred automatically.
REVIEW
PUBLISHED PAIR RECORDS
with Testosterone enanthate
Duplicate testosterone ester exposureBoth records are depot esters of testosterone, with different release characteristics rather than different active hormones. Product labels describe the same androgen class and monitoring concerns. Peppy did not identify a controlled study of this exact pairing; the flag identifies duplicate active-hormone exposure, not a personalised risk estimate.
Reviewed 8 Oct 2026with Nandrolone decanoate
Androgen/anabolic-steroid pathway overlapTestosterone cypionate and nandrolone decanoate are both androgenic anabolic steroids. Regulated labels describe class monitoring issues, but Peppy did not identify a direct clinical study of this specific combination. The record identifies a shared pharmacologic class rather than proving an interaction outcome.
Reviewed 8 Oct 2026HUMAN EVIDENCE
Evidence and U.S. labelling support testosterone replacement for diagnosed primary or hypogonadotropic hypogonadism. That evidence is not evidence for physique enhancement or for treating non-specific ageing symptoms without confirmed deficiency.
REPORTED EFFECTS
The cited label lists risks including polycythaemia, venous thromboembolism, worsening benign prostatic hyperplasia, possible prostate-cancer risk, oedema, altered lipids and abuse or dependence. It is contraindicated in pregnancy and in people with known or suspected breast or prostate carcinoma; the World Anti-Doping Agency lists anabolic agents as prohibited in sport.
RESEARCH LIMITATIONS
“Oil” is informal gym shorthand, not a pharmacological category. This record describes the cited regulated formulation or animal-drug status only; it is not a protocol, a product-quality endorsement, or a recommendation. Human and veterinary products are not interchangeable.
